Developmental Editing is a full package, where I examine the novel layer by layer, to fully comprehend character arcs, plot, pacing, voice, triggers, reader expectations, and inconsistencies.

A report is provided upon completion, detailing recommended changes to structure, character arcs and subplots. I outline where to trim, what needs to be extended, and how best to maintain pace and the reader's investment in your storyline.

Copy/line editing

An in-depth dive into every sentence, word for word, examining the language used, repetition, inconsistencies, lost threads, pov breaks, continuity errors, habits, rhythm and tone, character voice and fact checking. 

This is an intense package, and requires time; the document will be worked over several times - this is not a one-edit scan. We work on the document until we get it right.

Proofreading

Proofreading is the fine-tuning of a document before it is published. 

Typos, formatting, punctuation, and spelling are rigorously controlled.  Proofreading is essential to the editing process, whether it's a manuscript, query letter, advertisement, or an online article.
